What we use

Combed cotton

Cotton that has been combed to pull out the short, weak fibres before spinning. What is left is longer and more even, which is why combed cotton pills less, holds its shape longer and feels smoother against skin than ordinary carded cotton. It is what we use for most of our briefs, trunks and vests.

Bamboo viscose

Viscose spun from bamboo pulp. It moves moisture away from skin faster than cotton and dries quicker, which is the difference that matters in a Dhaka summer. Softer and with more drape than cotton, so it is what we reach for in our lightest pieces.

Elastane

A small percentage is blended into most pieces for stretch and recovery — enough to keep a waistband holding its shape through the day, not enough to make the garment feel synthetic.

How to wash it

  • Machine wash cold, up to 30°C, on a gentle cycle.
  • Wash dark colours separately for the first two or three washes.
  • Turn garments inside out to protect the surface and the printed waistband.
  • Use a mild detergent. Skip the bleach and skip the fabric softener — softener coats the fibres and is what kills the moisture-wicking in bamboo viscose.
  • Do not wring. Press the water out instead.

How to dry it

  • Line dry in shade. Direct sun fades colour and hardens elastic faster than anything else.
  • Avoid the tumble dryer. Sustained heat is what breaks down a waistband.
  • Iron on low if you must, and never directly over the elastic.

Making it last

Elastic recovers if you let it rest. Rotating between several pairs rather than wearing the same one daily is the single biggest thing you can do to make underwear last — which is most of the reason we sell multipacks.
